The owner of ’Wakey Wines’ in Wakefield is being accused of ripping-off customers after selling bottles of Prime for £24 each.
Fans have been queueing for hours outside Asda stores to try and get their hands on the sell-out energy drink founded by YouTubers KSI and Logan Paul.
Prime Hydration has been so popular in some Asda stores that they’ve enforced a limit of three bottles per customer.
KSI shared his reaction with fans online. In a YouTube video he said : “You’re getting ripped off, do not pay that much.”
“I know people want Prime, ok, just wait. Get in Asda nice and early and pay £2.”
“£2 is way better than £25. This is outrageous.”
Wakey Wines has attracted more than 240,000 followers on TikTok after sharing daily videos of Prime hunters who’ve had success finding the drink in their shop.
One TikTok saw a member of the public travel from Castleford to buy six bottles of the energy drink for £145.
Six bottles would have cost them just £12 in Asda.
Shop owner, Ameer Khan, features in the videos with customers as they show their purchase and share how far they’ve travelled – all before declaring Wakey Wines as the “best shop in Wakey.”
The TikTok account now has over two million likes and several videos have over five million views.
Ameer Khan has branded his shop on Marygate the “most expensive newsagents in the UK.”
He told The Sun that nobody has complained about the prices. He said: “People leave their phone numbers with me so I can let them know we have some in stock.”
Prime is sold out online, but how much would you be willing to pay to get your hands on a bottle?
The Drop approached Wakey Wines for comment but has not yet received a response.
